Hi, I'm Matt! I'm 13 years old and I live in Garland, Texas. My baking story starts with a disaster — I was 8, it was my mom's birthday, and I decided to surprise her with chocolate chip cookies. They came out burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. She ate three anyway and told me they were perfect.
After that, I was hooked. I spent every weekend in the kitchen experimenting — trying different butter temperatures, testing how long to chill the dough, figuring out exactly when to pull cookies out of the oven so they're soft in the center. My family has been my taste-testing crew for five years straight (they don't mind).
The turning point came at a school fundraiser last year. I brought four dozen chocolate chip cookies, priced them at $2 each, and they sold out in 10 minutes. A teacher came back and asked if I could make five dozen for a staff meeting. Then her neighbor called. Then her neighbor's coworker. That's when I knew this could be more than a hobby.
Every cookie, brownie, and treat I make is from scratch — real butter, real vanilla, quality chocolate, no shortcuts. I test every new recipe at least a dozen times before it goes on the menu. If it's not something I'd be proud to hand to someone, it doesn't make the cut.
